DOD Affordability Assessments for Major Defense Acquisition Programs

Abstract

The overall audit objective was to evaluate the adequacy of information supporting DoD affordability assessments and resource allocation decisions for major Defense acquisition programs to include the use of realistic cost estimates, topline fiscal constraints, and future year fiscal projections. We also reviewed implementation of the management controls applicable to affordability assessments.
