Idaho Training Range Justification.

Abstract

The State of Idaho, in coordination with the Air Force, has proposed the establishment of a new tactical training range in southwestern Idaho, designated the Idaho Training Range (ITR) The new range would supplement other ranges in the region and would provide training for elements of the 366th Wing at Mountain Home Air Force Base and the Idaho Air National Guard. The ITR would provide air-to-ground tactics training for pilots. The audit objective was to review the justification for the establishment of the ITR. This audit resulted from a request for an audit of overall use of major ranges from the DoD Deputy Director, Test Facilities and Resources, Office of Test and Evaluation (now the Office for Test, Systems Engineering and Evaluation). The results of the overall audit were reported separately.
