DOD Reporting and Controls for Contracted Support Services

Abstract

The primary audit objectives were to evaluate: The progress that DoD has made in establishing effective management controls and in improving the accuracy and completeness of the information reported on contracted support services and the extent to which contracted support services are being used by the Military Departments to compensate for DoD staffing reductions. This report addresses the first objective. Inspector General, DoD, Report No. 94-112, "Procurement of Support Services by the Air Force Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts," May 27, 1994, addresses the second objective as it relates to the Air Force Electronic Systems Center. Inspector General, DoD, Report No. 95-063, "Cost-Effectiveness of Contracting for Services," December 30, 1994, addresses the second objective as it relates to the Army and the Navy.
