Acquisition Management of the Joint Total Asset Visibility System.

Abstract

This report is the second in a series that evaluates the acquisition management of automated information systems. The Joint Total Asset Visibility automated information system is designed to provide timely and accurate logistics information on the location, movement, status, and identity of units, personnel, equipment, and supplies. The Joint Total Asset Visibility system is being acquired in two phases. Phase one is the Joint Total Asset Visibility In-Theater system that provides unified commanders with asset visibility for their commands. Phase two is the Joint Total Asset Visibility Global automated information system for the Joint Vision 2010 warfighting strategy. The Joint Total Asset Visibility program is a Special Interest Major Information Technology Initiative, which received operations and maintenance funding of $79 million through FY 1999.
