Army Safety Report FY 86. Volume 2. Air Defense Artillery Branch Battalions

Abstract

The Air Defense Artillery Branch Battalion record of conserving resources through accident prevention was a good one from FY 83 through FY 86. During this period, ground accidents showed a decreasing trend. Three types of accidents accounted for nearly all (91%) of the accidents in Air Defense Artillery Branch Battalions in FY 86. These accident types were personnel injury, Army motor vehicle, and privately owned vehicles. On-duty personnel injuries occurred primarily during combat soldiering activities. Off-duty personnel injuries occurred primarily during sports activities such as football and softball. Army motor vehicle accidents occurred primarily during operation of tactical vehicles such as 2 1/2-ton trucks and commercial utility cargo vehicles (CUCVs). Privately owned vehicle accidents occurred primarily during operation of autos/sedans and motorcycles/mopeds.
