Army Safety Report FY 86. Volume 2. Field Artillery Branch Battalions

Abstract

During the period FY 83 through FY 86, there was an increasing trend in Class A-C accidents in Field Artillery Branch Battalions. Personnel injury accidents, privately owned vehicle and Army motor vehicle accidents accounted for nearly all (90%) of the FY 86 accidents. On-duty personnel injuries occurred primarily during maintenance activities such as installing equipment. Off-duty personnel injuries occurred primarily during sports activities such as basketball and softball. Privately owned vehicle accidents occurred primarily during operation of autos/sedans and motorcycles/mopeds. Army motor vehicle accidents occurred primarily during operation of 2 1/2, 8, and 10-ton trucks.
