Indicators of Indiscipline. Phase 2,

Abstract

Phase 1 of the indicators of indiscipline study, (reference 1), consisted of a literature review of journal articles and technical reports dealing with human-error accidents, a review of motivational factors which may influence inadequate self-discipline, and the cross-referencing of Army recruitment file data with certain findings from the literature review. As a result of this research, a list of 20 indicators was identified which might be predictive of undisciplined behavior in soldiers. Phase 2 research was conducted to determine which of the indicators identified by the phase 1 study could successfully identify soldiers who cause accidents due to indiscipline and to field test a motivational management system to determine its ability to increase self-discipline and performance to standards.
