Army Safety Report FYy 86. Volume 2 Transportation Branch Battalions

Abstract

During the period FY 83 through FY 86, the number of Class A-C accidents in Transportation Branch Battalions remained relatively stable. The number of accidents decrease by one from FY 83 to FY 86. Three types of accidents accounted for nearly all (88%) of the FY 86 accidents. These accident types were personnel injury, Army motor vehicle, and privately owned vehicle. On-duty personnel injuries occurred primarily during maintenance activities, while off-duty personnel injuries occurred primarily during sports activities. Army motor vehicle accidents occurred primarily in 10-ton (or greater) trucks. Privately owned vehicle accidents occurred primarily during operation of motorcycles/mopeds and autos/sedans.
