A Low Cost Environmentally Benign Waste Lubricants Recycling/Re-refining Technology.

Abstract

Over two million gallons of spent aviation turbine lubricants are generated in the U.S. by the Department of Defense and the commercial airlines. Media and Process Technology Inc. has developed the membrane-based process which can re-refine the spent turbine oil to near virgin state. This report summarized the results obtained from a pilot demonstration unit. About 300 gallons of finished product were produced and was sent to the customers for initial market testing. Based upon the positive response from the process and market testing conducted in this project, a full scale production facility will be pursued as a next step for commercialization.
