Defense Acquisition Board Review Process

Abstract

This report is our sixth in a series of summary reports issued since 1984 that evaluated the Defense Acquisition Board (DAB) review process. The DoD Components submit documentation for DAB reviews highlighting the status of the program and its readiness to proceed into the next phase of the acquisition cycle and make recommendations on cost-schedule-performance trade-offs for decision by the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology. The DAB review should provide an independent assessment of the program and verify that exit criteria and the minimum required accomplishments of the phase preceding the milestone have been completed.
