Environmental Impact Statement For the Disposal and Reuse of Hunters Point Shipyard Volume 1: Main Text and Appendices

Abstract

Hunters Point Shipyard was closed pursuant to the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-510), as implemented by the 1993 base closure process. Under Article 2824 of Public Law 101-510, as amended, the Navy has authority to convey the property to the City of San Francisco (or a reuse organization approved by the City) for such consideration and under such terms as the Secretary of the Navy considers appropriate. This authority can be exercised exclusive of the specific Federal property disposal laws and regulations otherwise required for Navy disposals under the Base Realignment and Closure Act (BRAC) of 1988.
