DOD Hotline Allegations Concerning Construction of Henry J. Kaiser Class (TAO 187) Oilers.

Abstract

This audit was performed as a result of DoD Hotline allegations. The allegations relate to improprieties concerning the award, administration, and default of Naval Sea Systems Command contract N00024-85-C-2115 for the construction of Henry I. Kaiser Class (TAO 187) oilers. The May 1985 contract was for the construction of four Henry J. Kaiser Class (TAO 187) oilers and was valued at $414.5 million. The contract was terminated for default in August 1989 after $349 million was spent and no ships were delivered.
