Medical Treatment Facility Requirements-Fitzsimons Army Medical Center

Abstract

The Fitzsimons Army Medical Center (FAMC) provides a comprehensive range of acute care and outpatient medical services to active duty military personnel and retirees, and their dependents. FAMC has 434 patient beds and incurred over $212.3 million in expenditures in FY 1992. During our review, DoD was planning to construct a replacement medical center at a cost of $225 million. Congress has appropriated $30 million for design work and $2.0 million of military construction funds for site preparation. Plans showed that an additional $46.4 million will be spent for equipment and the Army will spend $29.8 million for support facilities.
