Controls Over Wholesale Drug Inventories at the Defense Logistics Agency.

Abstract

The Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) is registered to procure, warehouse, and distribute narcotic substances under the provisions of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). DPSC maintains accountable records for controlled substances managed by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and four DLA depots have physical custody of the controlled substances. The DPSC is the largest single distributor of controlled substances in the United States. In May 1991, DPSC managed a controlled substance inventory valued at about $5.7 million.
