Track Recognition Using Two-Dimensional Symbols or Three-Dimensional Realistic Icons

Abstract

Conventional tactical display depict military assets using non-realistic two-dimensional (2-D) symbols. Prototypes of three-dimensional (3-D) tactical displays are under development that depict assets using miniature realistic icons. This report discusses four experiments that tested the performance benefits of these icons.
