Office of Management and Budget: Future Challenges to Management

Abstract

I am pleased to be here today to discuss the role of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in addressing the government wide management challenges facing the federal government. In an earlier testimony before this subcommittee on OMB's managerial leadership, we discussed in some detail OMB's effectiveness in a range of specific management areas. My statement today will build on this by emphasizing the broader challenges facing the nation and the federal government now and in the future and their implications for central leadership approaches in general, and OMB in particular.
