Summary of Marine Mammal Occurrence and Population Estimates in U.S. Coastal Waters Subject to Military Aircraft Overflights.

Abstract

This technical report summarizes marine mammal occurrence data for five separate regions along coastal U.S. where military overflights occur. The five regions are the Northeast Pacific, Southeast Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, Southwest Atlantic, and Northwest Atlantic. The data include marine mammal species summary tables that provide the species common and scientific names, stock identity and most recent estimate of population size, seasonal occurrence index, dive profile, and comments. The information summarized in the tables presents "generalities" with some data based on better information than others.
