Computer Simulation of Airborne Circular Array Radar Data

Abstract

A computer code for simulating airborne circular array radar data was developed at NRL. The code models non-stochastic target signals plus stochastic clutter, jammer, and noise signals. The code is able to model arbitrary radar waveforms and arbitrary antenna element patterns. An important feature of the code is the capability to model the radially outward orientation of the receive elements. The output consists of signal samples at each receive element, for each range bin, for each pulse return. Multiple independent realizations of the stochastic signal types can be generated. Simulated data generated using this code will be used to support the development of signal processing algorithms for use with airborne circular array radars.
