Development of a New Technique for Discovering Systematically Hidden Patterns

Abstract

This report results from a contract tasking MPDS as follows: The contractor will investigate development of a fully automated computerized database to predict critical properties of new materials. The research will use a 3-D (plus 4-D (color) and 5-D (shape)) parameterized discovery space" to correlate atomic property expression of constituent chemical elements and compound/system properties using crystal structure data of 30,000 distinct compounds. Step 1) Develop a fully automated elemental property EP expressions generating software from a list a given EP sets + concentration functions + mathematical operator. Step 2) Develop 3 (4.5)-dimensional DISCOVERY SPACE software with optimal visualization features. Step 3) Develop automated software to find the e.g. 20 best solutions for a specific problem (to be inspected by expert). The "Real Core" of the project is the development of a "New Technique for Discovering Systematically Hidden Patterns within any Kind of Data" (to be developed on Materials Data).
