The Yawing Moment Due to Sideslip of Triangular, Trapezoidal, and Related Plan Forms in Supersonic Flow

Abstract

In this report expressions for the yawing moment due to side slip in supersonic flow have been derived for a representative group of wing plan forms. The analysis was based on edge-suction theory as well as linearized potential theory and was applied to triangular, trapezoidal, rectangular, and sweptback plan forms without dihedral. Values of the yawing-moment-due-to-sideslip derivative were computed for a number of typical plan forms with the assumption that the moment center was at the leading edge of the root chord.
