Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Number of Modified NACA Four-Digit-Series Airfoil Sections

Abstract

Theoretical pressure distributions have been calculated and the experimental aerodynamic characteristics determined at low speeds for a selected group of the NACA four-digit-series airfoil sections which have previously been modified for high-speed applications. The experimental investigation which was made in the Langley two-dimensional low-turbulence pressure tunnel consisted of measurements of the lift, drag, and pitching-moment characteristics of each of the plain airfoils at Reynolds numbers of 3.0 x 10(6), 6.0 x 10(6), and 9.0 x 10(6).
