Columbium and Tantalum Alloy Development

Abstract

As part of a project to develop refractory metal alloys suitable for high-temperature structural applications, the Bureau of Mines applied solid solution and precipitation-hardening techniques to columbium and tantalum alloys. Thirty three alloys were evaluated to determine their formability, strength, and oxdation resistance.
