The Operational Sustainability of Soviet Theater Forces

Abstract

This final report presents the results, at the collateral level, of the program to assess the Soviet/Pact capability to sustain a first echelon Front. It includes an examination of Soviet/Pact rear services operations; i.e. their ability to provide the requisite support on a timely basis. The results were interrelated with the results of an earlier assessment, "How to Hold Second Echelon Forces at Risk." Implications to NATO and targeting opportunities are included.
