U.S. Navy Flight Test Results With the LTN-211 Ons

Abstract

Evaluations have been completed of LTN-211 Omega/VLF Navigation System trial installations in U.S. Navy KA-3B and P-3B aircraft. System accuracy was determined in relation to visual sightings over surveyed landmarks during 37 flights totaling 129 hours. Navigational accuracy achieved is given in terms of sample statistics and population estimates. Performance using Omega signals (only) is compared to that achieved when augmented by use of the Navy VLF communications signals.
