Center for the Study of Fast Transient Processes

Abstract

The research carried out under this program explored fundamental issues and mechanisms of chemical processes that are germane to the combustion and detonation of energetic materials; gas phase unimolecular and bi-molecular reactions; chemistry of surface-bound species; energy transfer (gas phase and at surfaces); molecular dynamics simulations; and the construction of potential energy surfaces. This work resulted in several significant scientific advances, over 50 publications, 18 Ph.D. theses, 3 M.S. theses, and the support of 18 postdoctoral fellows.
