Computation and Visualization in Nonlinear Mechanics

Abstract

This award supported the University of Maryland Ph.D studies of Randy C. Paffenroth. He completed his thesis in January 1999, and is now a postdoc at the Center for Research in Parallel computing, California Institute of Technology. The thesis title was Mathematical, Visualization, Parameter Continuation, and Steered Computations. Finally the software VBM the development of which formed a major part of the Ph.D work of Paffenroth was the subject of a talk at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin, 1998, in the Special Session on Mathematical Software.
