Work Plan For A Treatability Study In Support Of The Intrinsic Remediation (Natural Attenuation) Option For North And South Gas Stations

Abstract

This work plan, prepared by Parsons Engineering Science, Inc. (Parsons ES) formerly Engineering-Science, Inc. (ES), presents the scope of work required for the collection of data necessary to conduct a treatability study (TS) for remediation of groundwater contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons at the North and South Gas Stations (NSGS), Travis Air Force Base (AFB), California. Hydrogeologic and groundwater chemical data necessary to evaluate multiple remedial options will be collected under this program; however, this work plan is primarily oriented toward the collection of hydrogeologic data to be used in support of intrinsic remediation (natural attenuation) for restoration of fuel- hydrocarbon-contaminated groundwater. Other remedial options will be considered in conjunction with intrinsic remediation during the TS, including free product removal; groundwater extraction and treatment (i.e., pump and treat); biosparging; bioslurping; and natural contaminant aftenuation (intrinsic remediation) with long-term monitoring.
