Development of Materials for Naval Weapons

Abstract

GEO-CENTERS, INC. programs in support of the Naval Research laboratory Materials Science and technology Division have addressed the development, characterization, and improvement of a variety of materials of interest to the Navy. The work accomplished encompassed a broad range of materials science and technology including basic research in the mathematical modeling of material properties, studies of marine corrosion and structural failure, and DT&E of novel materials and their applications. A major program was directed to application engineering for shipboard solid waste disposal and shipboard liquid waste concentration and disposal. GEO-CENTERS also provided research and documentation support to Navy environmental programs, in particular those related to ozone-depleting substances, the shipboard environmental information clearinghouse, and a program to develop environmentally sound ships or the 21st century.
