Insulation Coordination for Advanced Rotating Energy Systems: A Preliminary Assessment
Abstract
Electromagnetic armaments and electric launchers are emerging systems that are of increasing importance to the armed forces. Included in this category are the railgun, coilgun, reconnection gun, electrothermal gun (ET), and electrothermal-chemical gun (ETC). The system design issues for managing electromagnetic fields and insulation systems, which may include compulsators and pulse disk alternators, in the military applications for which they are intended, have been the subject of this study.
