User Prioritization of Capabilities for a Future Integrated Headborne System

Abstract

The Headborne Integrated Technology Team was formed to investigate and recommend a future system, with integrated capabilities, for the dismounted infantryman. The term "dismounted infantryman" will refer to both Marine Corps and Army personnel. The system is targeted for development in the 2010-2015 timeframe. This report will focus on the first step in this effort - prioritizing capabilities for integration. The prioritized headborne capability list produced will serve as a support tool in a complex tradeoff analysis in the second step and also decision-makers in planning further research investment and determining which capabilities to monitor. The prioritized list produced was based on the results of 123 surveys completed by Army and Marine officers attending the US Army Infantry Officer Advanced Course at Fort Banning, Georgia.
