Abstract

A computer science laboratory was established at UT Permian Basin, including three major components. A Windows administration environment in which hardware/Microsoft software systems are built, a Unix administration environment in which Unix (Linux) based systems are built, and a research and development environment for both Windows and Unix have been established. The R & D environment consists of 18 Windows-based workstations, two Windows NT servers, six Sun workstations and two Sun servers. This student-oriented laboratory is now in use in several regular undergraduate classes and by approximately 25 students doing senior research projects.
