Protecting the Homeland, Report of the Defense Science Board, 2000 Summer Study Executive Summary. Volume 1

Abstract

This Executive Summary of the DSB 2000 Summer Study was aimed at assisting the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community in defining their roles in protecting the nation from unconventional attacks on the United States. This four volume report documents the work of four DSB Task Forces: Defensive Information Operations (Volume II), Unconventional Nuclear Warfare Defense (Volume III), Defense Against Biological Weapons (Volume IV), and Intelligence Needs for Civil Support (incorporated in the other volumes). The overarching rationale for the importance of unconventional threats to the U. S. homeland and the key recommendations of the Summer Study are contained within Volume I, Executive Summary.
