Abstract

This document is Intended as a guide and reference for U.S. military small unit commanders and NCOs. Included are descriptions of the military rations. This document provides nutritional guidance for military operations in temperate and hot, cold, and high-altitude environments. answers are provided for frequently encountered questions about field feeding. This revised technical note updates the information on operational rations, includes water intake guidelines for training school environments, and provides advice about nutritional supplements. This document also reinforces the importance of garrison nutrition and presents an explanation of the Food Guide Pyramid. The appendices contain information on ration sources of certain nutrients and a bibliography for further information.
