Operation Greenhouse. Scientific Director's Report. Volume 3. Greenhouse Handbook of Nuclear Explosions. Nuclear Explosions 1951 (Sanitized Version)

Abstract

The Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory program of developing physically small fission weapons has led to the design of smaller high-explosive systems. Design work is advancing on even smaller systems. Concurrently with the development of smaller fission weapons, the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory has been advancing in its work on a "Super" bomb. In this field, theoretical studies have advanced to the point that the experimental study of a simple thermonuclear reaction becomes necessary.
