Durable Fluorocarbon-Based Coatings for Aircraft

Abstract

New perfluoroalkyl-branched diols were synthesized. Polyols and polyesters were prepared from the perfluoroalkyl-branched diols. The branching perfluoroalkyl groups are expected to form a protective layer between the polymer backbone and the atmosphere. Thus, the fluorinated polyols and polyesters could be key ingredients for the development of durable for military aircraft.
