A Federated Geospatial and Imagery Exploitation Service (GIXS) Model

Abstract

In order for the Geospatial and Imagery Exploitation Service (GIXS) architecture to take advantage of distributed processing of image exploitation tasks, it needs to be adapted to suit a federated environment. This document reports on work in progress by the image Analysis and Exploitation Group in conjunction with the Distributed and High Performance Computing Group of The University of Adelaide to develop a federated GIXS architecture along with a proof-of-concept implementation. A federated GIXS model is described, along with a use case scenario including an event-flow diagram. Also described are the changes necessary to adapt the current GlXS standard to our federated model. The report concludes with some future directions for our research.
