The Design and Implementation of a Real-Time Distributed Application Emulator
Abstract
This thesis details the engineering, design and implementation of a real-time, distributed, application emulator system (AE system). The project had two main goals for the tool: emulation of real-time distributed systems, and as a programmable resource consumer. The AE system is currently being used in the HiPer-D test bed to activate a resource leveling tool that monitors several software components for real-time response. The AE system is highly flexible and can be used in the context of a variety of network topologies and system loading options. The results presented show that the AE system can also emulate distributed systems.
