Digital Skill Training Research

Abstract

Constructivist training methods were empirically studied as a means for improving the acquisition and retention of digital skills. Using specially designed or adapted data collection instruments, data were gathered on soldiers trained at the TRADOC Military Intelligence (MI) and Field Artillery (FA) schools. Follow-up data were collected when trainees reported to their units. Skill data in raw form were delivered to AR for statistical analysis. An additional major objective of this Delivery Order was to develop guidelines for assessing Distributed Learning (DL) methods/media based on a review of empirical studies conducted over the past five years. This DL Guidelines effort (Task 4 of this Delivery Order) is reported in a separate document, ARI Research Note 2001-09.
