Mechanism for the Formation and Properties of a Borated Layer in Iron and Nickel Alloy

Abstract

The Boration of Iron and its Alloys Iron with boron forms solid solution and the two borides Fe2B and FeB .Fig 1 shows a diagram for the composition Fe-B, constructed from data given by several authors (Ref 1-4) and (12-17). The solubility of boron in alpha- and gamma- iron according to Veser and Muller (Ref 12) depending on the temperature is given in Table 1.
