Architecture Reconstruction to Support a Product Line Effort: Case Study

Abstract

Recently, technical staff members of the SEI performed architecture reconstructions on three small automotive motor systems. One system has an interface to an external bus within the automobile (the Controller Area Network CAN bus). The other systems do not have this interface. This technical note describes the architecture reconstruction process that was followed. It provides an overview of the Dali workbench used to support this process, presents the various activities in each phase of the process, and outlines the results that were produced.
