Sustaining Health & Performance in Cold Weather Operations

Abstract

This technical note reviews how the environment can impact on soldier health and performance during cold weather operations. The physiology of cold exposure risk factors for cold injuries, clothing systems, shelter, effects of solar radiation and high altitude, food and water consumption, disease, NBC operations, and key points for cold weather operations are presented are synthesized for unit leaders and soldiers.
