Heating, Ventilating, and Air-Conditioning Controls Operations and Maintenance Field Manual

Abstract

Operation and maintenance (O&M) of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) control systems can be a challenging task. To simplify the design, construction, and O&M of HVAC controls, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has developed standardized control system designs and hardware. This standardization increases the similarity of systems, reduces the stock of replacement parts, and allows mechanics to adapt to a uniform method for correcting performance problems. This manual is meant to apply to these standard systems; it describes how to interpret HVAC control system documentation, how to break the system down into control loops, and how to use that information to help troubleshoot and correct operational problems.
