Dimple, Spall, and Perforation Characteristics in Aluminum, Columbium, and Steel Plates Under Hypervelocity Impact
Abstract
An experimental research program designed to determine the critical damage modes that might be inflicted on various armor materials by the impact of a high-velocity projectile was conducted. The experimental program was performed under NASA contract on a ballistics range facility of the General Motors Corporation, Defense Research Laboratories, Santa Barbara, California.
