A Strongly Degenerate Convection-Diffusion Problem Modeling Centrifugation of Flocculated Suspensions

Abstract

We prove existence and uniqueness of BV entropy solutions of a strongly degenerate convection-diffusion problem modeling centrifugation of flocculated suspensions. A modification of the generalized upwind method is employed to solve the initial-boundary value problem numerically, i.e., to simulate the centrifugation process.
