Investigation of Wall Friction, Surcharge Loads, and Moment Reduction Curves for Anchored Sheet-Pile Walls

Abstract

This report presents the results of three separate investigations pertaining to anchored sheet-pile walls. The effect of wall friction on bending moments computed using classical design procedures and one-dimensional soil-structure interaction is examined. Also comparisons are made between different methods of computing soil pressures which incorporate the effects of surcharge loads. Finally, moment reduction curves from several different sources are compared.
