Optimal Deployment Measures Research for Networked Sensor Technologies as Part of the Future Combat System

Abstract

In response to the changing operational environment facing the nation and the Army during the 21st Century, the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Army announced a new Army Vision in October 1999 to build a land-power force capable of strategic dominance across the full spectrum of operations. The Vision establishes an explicit requirement for the Army to become more strategically responsive. The Army will implement the Vision by means of a three-stage transformation campaign over the next 10-20 years, leading to the establishment of an Objective Force that will incorporate revolutionary improvements in capability over the current force. The Army Transformation Campaign Plan represents the most challenging and significant effort to change the Army in a century. The IBCT represents the vanguard of that future force.
