Transportation for a New Millennium 2000 Annual Command Report

Abstract

This report is the 2000 Annual Report for the United States Transportation Command. USTRANSCOM is one of nine unified commands in the Department of Defense. Composed of forces from two or more military departments, unified commands have broad, continuing missions under a single commander. Of the nine unified commands within DOD, five CINCs have geographic areas of responsibility and are responsible for all operations within those areas. The CINCs of the remaining four unified commands have worldwide functional responsibilities not hound by geography. USTRANSCOM is in the latter group. This mission of USTRANSCOM is to provide air, land and sea transportation in times of peace and war.
