Abstract

As America ventures into the 21st century, the military faces increased responsibilities all over the globe. Military missions cross the entire spectrum of crisis intervention, from humanitarian assistance to peace operations to high-intensity conflict. This increased responsibility has been coupled with an extensive decrease in force structure.
