Tukhachevskii and AirLand Battle

Abstract

This paper will examine the evolution of the United States Army's AirLand battle doctrine as it directly relates to Tukhachevskii's Deep battle. From the examination of that evolution, the paper will identify and apply the broad factors that shaped AirLand doctrine. The reason this subject is timely and important is that it illuminates some of the challenges the armed forces, in particular the United States Army's face during the information era and a period of time when the United States is without peer.
