Napoleonic Wars and United States Marine Corps Warfighting Functions

Abstract

This study will analyze three of Napoleon's campaigns: The successful Ulm-Austerlitz campaign of 1805, the failed Russian invasion of 1812, and the campaign of 100 Days which culminated in the disastrous Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Using the Marine Corps warfighting functions as a comparative model, it will help point out the opposing forces strengths and weaknesses that contributed to the ultimate outcomes.
